🌟 September Employee Spotlight: Ryan Ellis, PT, DPT, ECS 🌟

Meet Ryan Ellis, one of our talented Physical Therapists here at UOC! 💪

Ryan earned his Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from Slippery Rock University and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Texas State University. He went on to complete a Residency in Electromyography with EMG Solutions in Alabama — bringing advanced diagnostic expertise to our patients and team.⚡

Outside of work, Ryan keeps busy with home projects and remodels and enjoys all that fall has to offer — cooler weather, colorful leaves, and football on TV. 🍂🏈 Since moving from Texas to State College in 2020, he’s developed a love for the local restaurant scene and the occasional craft beer at one of the area’s great breweries. 🍻

Ryan’s dedication to his patients and his easygoing, team-focused approach make him a valued part of the UOC family. We’re lucky to have you, Ryan!

At UOC, we often get asked: “What’s the difference between cortisone, gel, and PRP injections?” Here’s a simple guide:

Cortisone (Steroid Injection)

•🕒 How it works: Powerful anti-inflammatory medication
•⚡ Speed: Works quickly (days)
•⏳ Duration: Relief can last weeks to a few months
•❗ Best for: Short-term relief of flare-ups or acute pain
• ⚠️ Limitations: Repeated use can weaken tissue or affect cartilage health

Gel (Viscosupplement / Hyaluronic Acid)

•🕒 How it works: Adds “lubrication” and cushioning to arthritic joints
•⚡ Speed: Takes a few weeks to kick in
•⏳ Duration: Relief may last 6 months
•❗ Best for: Mild to moderate arthritis, when joints feel stiff or “dry”
• ⚠️ Limitations: Doesn’t reverse arthritis; effectiveness varies from person to person

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) – Self-Pay Only

This month, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on Alexis Williams—but most know her as Lexi! ✨

Lexi is our dedicated DME/Pharmacy Coordinator for State College location, helping ensure patients receive the equipment and medications they need for a smooth recovery. Outside of work, Lexi is a proud mom to a 5-year-old son who loves baseball ⚾—so you’ll often find her at the ballfield. She also enjoys reading 📚, exploring new coffee shops ☕, and spending quality time with her family ❤️.
