Happy Chef Appreciation Week!
This week, we’re shining a spotlight on Foxdale Village’s Executive Chef, Val Rose. Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Val’s journey to the kitchen is as unique as his culinary skills. Originally recruited to play defensive line at Michigan, an injury changed his path and led him to pursue culinary school. He went on to earn an associate degree in Culinary Arts from Erie Community College and a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from Buffalo State College and has spent nearly 30 years in the industry, from washing dishes to leading VIP events.
Val’s greatest joy, though, has been sharing the kitchen with his children; strapping them into a carrier as babies while he worked expo, helping them grow up with a love for food and a diverse palate. At Foxdale, he says the highlight has been the Dining Services team, “The team here has a passion for our residents, and it shows through how they work together to make sure our residents are taken care of.”
When he’s not in the kitchen, Val says he is focused on family.
We are proud to celebrate Chef Val and the creativity, care, and passion for food he shares with Foxdale Village!
