John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals Inc.

John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals Inc. We are reachable 24 hours a day. In the funeral home business, it is rare, but invaluable characteristic. Ours is Staten Island's only full service funeral home.

There is nothing related to a funeral home that we can't handle for you. Nothing. Our expertly-trained staff is here to respond to your every need at a most sensitive time. You can leave all planning to us. Why? One reason is that we never depend on outside suppliers. Everything from a fleet of impeccably maintained limousines to an on-premises floral and religious articles shop to monuments and memorials are all owned and operated by us. Perhaps most important is the Scalia commitment to providing only the finest service with compassion and precise attention to detail. Our family treats yours with the utmost respect and courtesy. Because in your time of need, we want to take care of everything. And we do mean everything. The Scalia's Family owned business, founded in 1971, is the dream of it's owner, John Vincent Scalia, Sr. who has guided this business from it's first funeral, who today directs every funeral he can. The facility has grown from a 3500 sq. ft. facility to its present size of 10,000 sq. ft, after three (3) additions, with another to come. The Funeral Home is softly decorated with heavy ceiling moldings and dainty wall moldings. The Scalia Home for Funerals facility contains eight (8) viewing rooms of various sizes. Each painted and decorated so that each room takes on it's own personality. Every room contains a working fireplace for the physical and mental comfort of the mourners. Also, located on their premise is a Children's playroom, Quiet Times, with videos and toys are located on the premises. A casket, urn, vault and monument showroom as well. The Family owned Florist and religious goods store, is located on the property next door. The firm maintains their own livery as well. Pre- Arrangement Needs Available

Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Nothing has happened.

Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.

Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident?

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just round the corner.

All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
