Our team services patients from infancy to adulthood. Specializing in myopia and vision rehab. She is a member of the Allied Health Staff at Northwell Health.

Dr. Ilana Gelfond-Polnariev is a graduate of Salus Univeristy (Pennsylvania College of Optometry). She completed a residency in Vision Therapy at the State University of New York College of Optometry. Dr. Gelfond is Board Certified in the Vision Development and Vision Therapy. She specializes in pediatric vision, vision therapy, and head trauma rehabilitation for children and adults. Dr. Gelfond-Polnariev is currently an Associate Clinical Professor at SUNY College of Optometry. She has published several articles on Vision and Learning in local parent magazines, as well as lectured to PTA groups, OT's, Mother's of Multiples groups, and to the teachers in the Staten Island School system. Dr. Viktoriya Rudnik received her Doctor of Optometry degree from SUNY College of Optometry. She completed her pediatric and vision therapy training at SUNY college of Optometry and Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center in Brooklyn. Dr. Rudnik enjoys providing eye care to children and adults with special interest in Orthokeratology.

Huge congratulations to our incredible vision therapists, Anna and Roseann, on officially earning their COVT (Certified Optometric Vision Therapist) designation!

This accomplishment represents years of hands-on experience, in-depth written case reports, and a challenging oral interview—culminating in their successful certification at the annual OVDRA meeting in Fort Worth, Texas.

A heartfelt thank you to Erin for her incredible mentorship, guidance and commitment played such a huge role in shaping their growth and helping them reach this milestone.

I couldn’t be prouder to stand beside these two as they continue to elevate the quality of care we provide every day. Your dedication, skill, and heart are what make NYC Pupil so special.

Inspiring Future Optometrists at St. Joseph by the Sea High School!

Had an amazing time today presenting to students interested in pursuing a career in optometry! It was great to share insights about the field, from primary care, to myopia management to vision therapy, and answer thoughtful questions about the journey to becoming an eye care professional.

The future of optometry is bright, and I loved seeing so many passionate students eager to make a difference in people’s lives through vision care. Thank you, St. Joseph by the Sea, for having me!

Dr. Gelfond recently attended the InfantSEE and Children’s Vision Summit, where she is an active committee member!

InfantSEE is a public health initiative that provides free, comprehensive eye and vision assessments for infants between 6 to 12 months old👶🏻

The program aims to identify vision problems early—issues that might be overlooked during routine screenings👩🏼‍⚕️

Through early intervention, InfantSEE helps spot potential vision concerns that could affect a child’s development, ensuring they have the visual foundation necessary for learning and growth💭
