COVID-19 UPDATES
In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while providing the best care to our patients, Thomas Pediatrics is changing how office visits run. The health and well-being of our patients and families is important to us. For now, here are few things you need to know. We will continue to provide you with updates as they become available.
If your child is sick, please call the office as usual and speak to our staff to discuss whether you should come into the office. We will decide on a case to case basis if you need to bring your child in. Please inform the staff if you have traveled out of the country or have come in contact with anyone who has the COVID-19 virus infection.
Please call the office for well child visits, as some of them may be temporarily postponed. However, as we do not want to delay providing life-saving vaccines to certain age groups of children, we will schedule these well visits during fixed times of the day. The office staff will be able to schedule them for your child.
We ask that only one parent/guardian accompany the child during the visit. If you have other children, it would be best to leave them with someone at home or have them stay with an adult in the car during the office visit. This will help us to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
If you need to see the doctor, but cannot be seen in person, we now offer a Telemedicine service where you can speak to Dr. Thomas via video chat. This service will only be available for mild symptoms, so please call the office and we will provide you with the details if deemed clinically appropriate.
With the current information/data made available to us, COVID-19 is thought to cause milder symptoms in healthy children. There is no approved treatment that is currently available to treat the disease. Please check the CDC website for the latest information and updates.
