You cannot eat a potato to lower your blood alcohol content. A penny under your tongue won't work either. Ma*****na is a 28 day fat soluble drug. Drink lots of water. Co***ne and m**h are stimulants and cause paranoia and an empty wallet. Benzos and alcohol produces a blackout. The brain doesn't know the difference between prescription and illicit drugs. Addiction is hard to reverse.

I saw tears in the eyes of many men. They 'dabbed' at their nose. The heads were drooped as they listened to the 'impact letters'. A man's mom wrote about finding her son with his head wrapped in cellophane. He was unconscious from huffing gasoline vapors. He had walked away from his house, carrying his infant son, so 'high' he that he staggered with every step. He visited his granddad and stole the medications which were necessary to sustain life. His granddad died. He was't there. Jail had become his new home. She slept in the hallway at her son's door to keep him from slipping out to use more drugs. She had to intervene when he beat on his girlfriend. She has seen him manipulate his way through countless treatments with no sincerity or genuineness. She called the cops on him, again and again. As the letters were read, each man recognized his own addiction and the pain others had suffered. They straightened up in their chairs, squared there shoulders, still red-eyed, and tried not to show any emotions but the evidence of the tears were there.

"Good morning, Vietnam". Robin Williams said it loud and clear. Alcohol dependence and drug dependence is no joke. "Good morning, Southeast Georgia". Let me be loud and let me be clear. These diseases are treatable. Let us help you and your family fight the war. Vern

Homecoming weekend with great fall weather! I hope your favorite teams 'pull it out'. There is tailgating going on this weekend, too. Please use a designated driver or take a taxi. If you hit a 'glitch' and need some help call or visit us for confidential, caring services. 'Overshooting' the mark with alcohol is not uncommon but impairment is a certainty in such cases. Plan ahead. Remember "drunk thinking doesn't resemble sober thinking very much". Have a good weekend. Vern

We support responsible drinking by our youth on college campuses. Let us know how we can help keep our youth safe and focused on long-term goals.
The National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism recently published the Alcohol Intervention Matrix to assist colleges in establishing safe college environments with respect to alcohol consumption. Please check it out:

We have a grandmother, sister, and client using our counseling techniques to remove the 'elephant from the living room'. I know we can help. We are working with boundaries, medical and mental professionals, addiction clinicians and God (yes, God) to rearrange some erroneous thinking and skewed behaviors. This family is healing.

There is wonderful news in the making. We have a strong, compassionate staff who are putting research and practice on our consumers with amazing outcomes. The feedback from families and friends is 'over the top' positive about the rapid recovery of their loved ones who have been 'paralyzed' with antiquated treatment philosophies and therapies. ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) is just one of our approaches and the 8 to 12 sessions of PE (Prolonged Exposure) cuts through layers of confusion and victimization and brings recovery a new, fresh face without long, drawn-out treatment. Hooray for advancements using science, medications, spiritual enlightenment and skilled therapeutic clinicians to meet the needs of today's addicts and alcoholics.
