Addressing end-of-life care requires careful consideration. To facilitate optimal care for the individual, it is crucial to investigate available options and communicate care preferences proactively, ideally before significant physical or cognitive limitations arise.

Engage in open dialogue with healthcare professionals to understand the anticipated progression of the patient’s condition and the full spectrum of care choices. Outline preferences for medical interventions and identify the designated medical decision-maker.

Recognize that personal and cultural factors, including religious beliefs, can shape care decisions, and multiple discussions may be necessary.
