Our Story
The business began back in 2014, before it was a business, really. I stumbled upon elderberry syrup and tried my hand at making it myself. I then had friends that wanted some, and friends of those friends and Elderberry Syrup Lady was born. Back in my humble small beginning I was making batches one or two jars at a time, and could customize ingredients for any preference. I started with the basic recipe that most produce (elderberry, cinnamon, ginger, clove) but did not find it as effective as I had hoped, nor was the taste super kid friendly. So I set out to make my own recipe and ingredients and played with it until I got not only the powerful combination of powerhouse ingredients, but an amazing flavor that my picky kids LOVE! The extra ingredients include rose hips, which are great for respiratory issues, and adds not only a floral sweet flavor but even more vitamin C. I also added star anise, which is the active ingredient in Tamiflu. Star anise actually stops the flu virus from replicating. I also added lemon juice, which adds, you guessed it, MORE vitamin C and helps to preserve the syrup and balance out the sweetness from the honey. We produce a quality elderberry syrup made from wild crafted and organic ingredients. The elderberries we use are a combination of organic and wildcrafted ingredients. Wild crafted berries are forged in their wild terrestrial habitat, untouched by pesticides and chemicals. They are also grown in their natural soil which is perfectly balanced with the right nutrients for the plant to thrive. Before the USDA started to label ingredients as certified organic, wild crafted was considered organic. Some companies still choose wild crafted over organic. All other ingredients are certified organic. We also use a gourmet local raw honey, which is added once the liquid is cooled so as to preserve its live enzymes and beneficial properties. We produce our syrup in a commercial kitchen which is inspected and approved by the USDA.
