I have some sad news to share with you all. As a follow up to my last post concerning the destruction of the bench that was beside the Tinga Tinga Little Free Library in the front parking lot of the building, I made the difficult decision to remove the library. I am truly heart broken to make this decision 😓
When the library idea came to me, I envisioned that it would be a long standing structure that would provide the community with a place to share books with others with no strings attached. Just sheer joy of picking up a new book or leaving some behind to bring joy to someone else. And over the past 8 years that has been happening day after day. Even though I moved my office upstairs, I still looked out the window and saw the library in action and every single time my heart swelled with that joy. It was always something I looked forward to seeing and I will be a little lost now when looking out that window now.
The library was removed yesterday and hopefully will find a new place to bring others that wonderful “take a book, leave a book” joy.
Thank you to everyone who visited this little library, everyone who shared a book or a hundred, everyone who took a book, everyone who sat on that bench, everyone who support the library from the very beginning up until the very end, and everyone who made my idea come to life. It truly is a work of art to be treasured and to be remembered for being a source of happiness to the community.
I made this little video to commemorate Tinga Tinga Little Free Library 💚
