For all the families that are thinking about cremation for their Beloved Member, please "shop around" several local funeral homes, preferably the family owned locations, not the large "corporate owned" locations. There is a difference in price and concern. Our price is the lowest in the South Central Pennsylvania rea. Please be sure to compare "apples to apples", and get a complete cost breakdown from any provider. The smaller family owned businesses are always a better bet.

It appears to me that the Steelton-Highspire High School needs to focus more on Academics than it's sports teams.

On the 31st of October, I paid the second installment on my school district "babysitting" tax. The amount is appalling for such a horrible scoring district. So far I have paid over$4600.00 to a district that constantly scores a D- or F from the State rating agencies. A change needs to be made.

Today, September 11, 2022, is a very somber day for me. I had been a funeral director for 29 years in New Jersey, before moving to Pennsylvania in 2005. I had worked for Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Livingston, a very well respected firm, for 20 years. On this day 9-11- 2001, I was directing a funeral at St Philomena Church, Livingston, for a 10AM Mass. At the church the word came out about the attacks on the World Trade Center. After Mass, the burial was in Hollywood Cemetery in Union , NJ. As we proceeded to the cemetery on NJ route 24, we crested a hill and came upon the sight of lower Manhattan and the burning Trade Centers. Many cars were pulled to the shoulder and taking pictures of the event. We proceeded to the cemetery where we had US Air Force honor guard for the deceased veteran. The Airmen were very nervous and asked if they could do the honors first and then quickly leave. At this point, no one knew what had happened or why. I finished the funeral and returned to Livingston. I will never forget the black smoke and the awful smell in the air from that day. We watched the events unfold on the office television for the afternoon. Much later we had the opportunity to handle the funeral services of 4 different heroes from the Trade Center. The one that sticks in my mind the longest was a young man, we had an empty suit in an open casket for the family viewing, and they had made a video of him to the music of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". It was a very difficult and emotional funeral to conduct.
