As we close out 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has truly been an extraordinary year for Valley Medical Transport (VMT).

Over the past year, our team had the honor of providing care to approximately 20,500 patients during some of their most critical and vulnerable moments. These numbers represent far more than statistics—they represent neighbors, families, and individuals who relied on us when it mattered most.

Our Wi******er, Virginia operation safely completed nearly 15,000 patient transports, while our Keyser, West Virginia base successfully handled more than 5,000 transports. In addition, our wheelchair services provided nearly 3,000 transports, ensuring safe and reliable access to care for those with mobility needs. Our specialized Mental Health SUV also delivered compassionate support to approximately 500 individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, offering dignity, respect, and care during critical moments.

To accomplish this incredible work, our team collectively drove over 1.3 million miles, supported by a robust fleet of 30 ambulances, 5 wheelchair vans, and 2 mental health vehicles. Every mile driven reflects dedication, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to safety and excellence.

I could not be more proud of—and grateful for—the amazing people I have the privilege to work alongside each day. Our team consistently shows up with heart, skill, and purpose, all united by a shared mission: Serving Our Community By Improving Health.

I am overjoyed to share some truly exciting news that shines a spotlight on the incredible talent and dedication within our ranks at VMT.

The International Board Of Specialty Certification (IBSC) offers Specialty Certifications, a voluntary but highly respected credentialing process designed to validate the essential knowledge and judgment required for safe and competent practice in our field. These certifications represent a gold standard, confirming that professionals possess the critical skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their roles.

At VMT, our Community Paramedics play a pivotal role in caring for patients right in their homes, handling non-urgent medical situations outside the hospital setting and operating under the expert supervision of a physician. Their work is vital: by partnering closely with Valley Health, we are proudly expanding the reach of primary care and public health services, creating a meaningful impact in our community’s health and wellbeing.

Now, I am delighted to announce that our very own Justine Mantz has recently passed her Community Paramedic exam—joining the ranks of a select few nationwide who hold this prestigious certification. Justine’s dedication, perseverance, and expertise have not only earned her this distinguished credential but also enhanced our team’s capacity to deliver outstanding patient care.

We are pleased to announce the promotion of Nicolas “Nick” Miramontes to the position of Clinical Outcomes and Compliance Manager at Valley Medical Transport. Nick brings over two decades of healthcare experience, including extensive service in emergency medical services and clinical education. Since joining Valley Medical Transport in 2021, he has served in multiple leadership roles, most recently as Paramedic Field Supervisor, where he demonstrated exceptional skill in clinical auditing, performance coaching, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

His background includes:

• A Bachelor of Science in Biology from George Mason University and a Graduate Certificate
in Advanced Biomedical Sciences from Georgetown University.

• Certifications as a National Registered Paramedic, Flight Paramedic-Certified, Virginia
Education Coordinator, and NAEMSE Level 1 Instructor.

Nick’s dedication to clinical excellence and his commitment to continuous improvement make him an ideal fit for this role. As Clinical Outcomes and Compliance Manager, he will oversee quality assurance processes, regulatory documentation, and clinical performance initiatives to ensure that Valley Medical Transport continues with the highest standards of care across our organization.

Each year, VMT comes together to celebrate the incredible accomplishments achieved as a team. This year, we had the privilege of recognizing individuals who have truly set the bar high through their exceptional safe driver behaviors. Their commitment to safety ensures not only their well-being but also the safety of every patient and colleague they encounter.

VMT is on track to travel over 1.3 million miles in 2025.

We also celebrated significant transport milestones, including those who have completed 1,000, 2,250, 7,500, and 10,000 safe patient transports—a testament to the dedication, skill, and unwavering focus on providing the highest quality care.

In addition, we honored two outstanding individuals with our Academic Excellence Award from our in-house EMT program. Their hard work, perseverance, and pursuit of knowledge inspire us all to keep striving for excellence in everything we do.
