Peaceful Journeys Midwifery LLC

Peaceful Journeys Midwifery LLC Peaceful Journeys Midwifery offers holistic and comprehensive Women's Health services to ladies thro Joseph’s Hospital. It is my hope to serve you well.

My path to Midwifery took longer than expected and was not without its twists and turns. Even as a small child I was fascinated by pregnancy and birth and would mortify my mother by touching every pregnant belly I saw, friend and stranger alike. Initially I pursued the pre- medicine route but it became clear to me that I would not be able to offer the care that I wanted to provide to the women I served. After this realization, I decided to change my major to Nursing and obtained my BSN at Shenandoah University with the sole intent being to immediately continue for my Masters in Midwifery. I was blessed to go into out of hospital birth, the area of my calling and passion, after taking my Boards and practicing at St. I really do have the best “job” in the world because I am surrounded by loving Midwives and amazing women. Currently, I live in Wi******er with my husband and my four children. I am originally from Tennessee and you will hear that in my accent. My son was born via C/S and my daughter was a VBAC hospital transfer during a planned homebirth. My babies didn’t make it easy on me, but through them I continue to learn empathy, understanding, patience, strength, and the tenacity of woman.

Today is Bereaved Mother's Day.

If you didn't know this day existed, you might be one of the lucky ones. If you did know this day existed, please know that you're not alone.

Today is the day we honor all of the Mothers who have heavy hearts.

❤️ We honor those still waiting for their miracle.
❤️ We honor those who have had failed fertility treatments.
❤️ We honor those who have lost their embryos.
❤️ We honor those who have had a pregnancy end too soon.
❤️ We honor those who have suffered a stillbirth.
❤️ We honor those who have lost their babies.
❤️ We honor those who have lost their children.

We acknowledge that not all mothers will enjoy Mother's Day. It's a painful reminder of what they've lost, what they no longer have, or what hasn't come easily.

Once a mother, always a mother.
Loss doesn't change that.

Hello family! As many of you (might) know our wonderful, brilliant, enthusiastic, beloved birth assistant Bethanie Mintz has been working tirelessly over the last couple of years, and will be graduating in May with her Family Nurse Practitioner degree! She has been an integral part of the Blue Ridge Birth and Peaceful Journeys Midwifery family over the last 6 years. We would like to invite you all to send Bethanie a card of congratulations, thanks, well wishes if she has blessed you in any way. Bethanie will be continuing to work alongside of us until September before she moves on to practice as a licensed family nurse practitioner. She is also gathering a waiting list for anyone who would like to consider becoming her patient! You can DM me for an address to send your note. Hoping to shower her with MANY cards and notes of how much her work, energy and thoughtfulness has blessed us all! 💝🤗😍

"And the cord was around his neck..."

"It's a good thing I was in hospital/had a caesarean because THE CORD WAS AROUND HIS NECK"

Have you ever heard stories like that?

Let me put my dark glasses on, and steeple my fingers and ask...

What if I told you....

That the cord being around your baby's neck was EXPECTED?

Think of all the boogying around in there they do. Wouldn't it be a bit weird if it wasn't looped around them?

What if I told you...

It's pretty common. It happens in around 1/3 of births, and it's not usually a cause for concern.

What if I told you...

It's not strangling your baby. He's not breathing with his lungs yet, remember. And it's coated in Whartons jelly to protect it even if it's knotted.

What if i told you it's a GOOD thing!

Around the neck is infinitely better than around the head! It would get very squashed there as he moved down and out.

Please see the commments for a l i n k to more information about this :D
