Do your research before you invest!

Questions to ask your OB or Midwife to know if you’re seeing the right one!

1. How many cesareans have they done in the last week and or month?
2. Will they let me delay vaccines if I want to or not get them if I don’t want to?
3. Will they try to talk me into circumcision if I prefer not to do it?
4. What interventions do they use and how often?
5. Can I have free movement?
6. Can I eat and drink to keep my energy up?

Know what questions to ask and be well informed! Know advantages and disadvantages to hospital and birthing center births! Know what kind of birth you want and get that kind of birth!

🚽 Why laboring on the toilet helps!!
Laboring on the toilet is often called the “dilation station” because it naturally encourages the body to relax and open — exactly what labor needs.

🌿 1. It relaxes the pelvic floor
Sitting on the toilet automatically cues your body to release and soften the pelvic floor — something we’ve been conditioned to do our entire lives. A relaxed pelvic floor helps the baby descend and reduces tension that can slow labor.

🧘‍♀️ 2. It puts you in a supported squat
The toilet creates a supported squat position, which can open the pelvis by up to 30%, giving the baby more room to engage and move downward.

🔄 3. It can help labor progress
Because the body is relaxed and the pelvis is open, contractions often become more effective. This is why many doulas and midwives see dilation pick up when someone sits on the toilet.

🕯️ 4. The bathroom feels private and safe
The bathroom is naturally a quiet, enclosed space — which boosts oxytocin, the hormone that drives labor. Feeling unobserved and safe helps labor hormones flow more freely.

💺 5. It’s a familiar place to “let go”
We associate the toilet with releasing tension. That psychological cue can help the cervix soften and open more easily.

No bath needed!
Vernix is one of those magical, beautifully designed newborn protections that parents often don’t realize is incredibly valuable.
🌿 Benefits of Vernix Caseosa
The newborn’s natural immune shield
1. Antimicrobial Protection
Vernix contains proteins that inhibit bacteria like E. coli, Group B Strep, and Listeria.
It acts as a first-line immune barrier, especially important during the transition from womb to world
2. Temperature Regulation
Babies coated in vernix lose heat more slowly.
It helps maintain stable body temperature, reducing the risk of hypothermia after birth.
3. Moisturizes and Protects Skin
Vernix is rich in: Lipids
It prevents newborn skin from drying, cracking, or peeling — no lotions needed.

Pictured: How NOT to have a baby (if you are having a normal, healthy pregnancy). In bed, hooked up to all the things...just no.

Flat on your back, tethered to wires, monitors, and machines… it’s the opposite of what physiology needs. Birth works best when people can move, sway, breathe, and follow their instincts.
There’s a time and place for medical tools—but they shouldn’t be the default.

This is what many people imagine birth “has” to look like… but it doesn’t. For healthy pregnancies, being confined to a bed and hooked to multiple devices can limit movement, increase discomfort, and disrupt the natural flow of labor.
Birth is a dynamic, active process. Your body was built to move.

If you’re low‑risk and healthy, this is NOT way to give birth.
