How is AI helping patients?
The Dallas Morning News explored that question in a recent report that included Dr. Pat Fulgham, a urologist on the medical staff at Texas Health Dallas. He explained how AI can help fight prostate cancer.
There are AI tools that double check radiology scans to identify risk factors that a human radiologist might have missed, he said. That could help to ensure accurate diagnosis of prostate cancer, he said.
“It’s not meant to replace the radiologist,” Fulgham said, “but it may point out something that was not obvious to them.”
AI tools can review a biopsy for cancer and the information gathered can then be used to help build a patient’s treatment plan, Fulgham said.
Find out more:

AI has stepped into our professional lives, our careers, our schooling. So it should be no surprise to find it in doctor's offices and hospitals, too.
