If you had told me 6 years ago that I’d walk away from something I helped build… I wouldn’t have believed you.
But I did. And it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

From driving to home visits with just 6 clients to now running a full-blown practice with (almost) 1000 sq. ft. of space for kids to play, connect, and grow and adding 3 SLPs to our team - it’s been a wild ride.

I didn’t always know what was coming next.
But I did know what felt right.
And I followed that.

This post is a little love note to anyone who’s building something from scratch, dreaming up the next version of their career, or just figuring it out as they go.

As a pediatric speech therapist, the #1 concern I hear from parents about introducing AAC is that it will keep their child from talking.

But here’s what the research ACTUALLY says:
Introducing a robust AAC device will NOT stunt your child’s speech development. In fact, it can actually help increase speech production! 🎉

Here’s why:
🧠 AAC takes the pressure off speech, making communication easier—when kids feel understood, they’re more likely to want to communicate!
🗣️ Seeing words on a screen helps reinforce language, just like hearing and seeing words in print help with reading.
🙌 AAC doesn’t replace speech—it gives your child another way to express themselves while supporting their speech development at the same time.

And let’s be real—speech isn’t accessible for every child at all times. The ultimate goal isn’t just talking—it’s communication. If speech isn’t coming easily, giving your child another way to express their thoughts, needs, and personality is everything. 💙
