Families and community joined at Arden Courts Sterling Heights for an interactive educational seminar focused on understanding what it may feel like to live with dementia. They were able to take home tips on how to communicate better and be a better dementia caregiver overall.

Thank you to our friends at Optimal Care for providing ice cream floats for our residents, staff and visitors this week. Optimal Care is our preferred home health provider at Arden Courts Sterling Heights and they take great care of our families.

Each resident is unique and so are their needs. When it comes to meals, our menu items are carefully prepared with consideration of a resident’s likes, skills and capabilities. We ensure modifications are made to maintain a person’s independence as long as possible. When forks and knives are no longer working, finger foods are prepared to help maintain a sense of dignity.

The Alzheimer's Association wrapped up "The Empowered Caregiver Series" at Arden Courts Sterling Heights this week. Over the past five months we brought families, caregivers and other professionals together to learn more about navigating the responsibilities of caring for someone living with dementia. The tools presented were a huge support for our guests and another example of the valuable resources Arden Courts brings to the community.

💜Loving your person through the hardest goodbyes💜

Arden Courts hosted speaker, Joanna LeFleur, to guide and support families on managing living grief through caring for someone with dementia. Tips of encouragement and permission to grieve allowed guests to leave feeling at peace with where their life is at now. It is important for Arden Courts to not only support our residents, but also our families that are often grieving the loss of who their person once was.

Families, residents and staff joined together for an Easter egg hunt that included over 300 eggs in our spacious secured courtyard. We were treated by a special balloonologist and face painting from our nursing department. Social and intergenerational gatherings bring a sense home and belonging for our residents and allow for new memories to be created.
