Myopia (nearsightedness) is one of the most common eye disorders in the world. When your eyeball grows too long or your cornea becomes too steeply curved it causes light to hit the front of the retina instead of directly on it. This causes your distance vision to become blurry and out of focus.

Mild myopia typically does not increase a person's risk for eye health problems. But moderate and high myopia are sometimes associated with serious, vision-threatening side effects. Studies have shown an increased risk for things like retinal detachment, glaucoma and even early onset of cataracts in myopic patients.

Myopia usually starts when you are young and progresses throughout your life to adulthood. What can you do? The best way to help your kids avoid moderate to high myopia is to start treatment early. We use 4 diffferent active strategies based on clinical trials to slow the progression. These treatments can induce changes on the structure and focusing of the eye to reduce stress /fatigue associated with the develoment and progression of nearsightedness. Call today to schedule your child for a Myopia Management Consultation to find out more.

Did you know....Sight threatening ocular diseases often have NO signs or symptoms in the early stage? Early detection and treatment may reduce risks of vision loss and disease progression.

Eyes are like fingerprints, no two are the same. Having an image to reference allows your doctor to detect early changes that otherwise may not be seen until significant progression occurs. This is why more and more insurance companies are starting to cover this service.

The doctors at our office feel the iWellness Exam is an important part in providing the BEST possible care, which is why we have invested in these instruments. This state of the art technology can help doctors detect signs of disease earlier than ever!

Call or go to our website today to schedule your eye exam and say YES when asked about iWellness! πŸ€“πŸ˜
