Early today, there was a shooting incident in the parking lot of our Sterling skilled nursing facility. One of our employees was injured and is currently receiving care at a local hospital. Our thoughts are with our employee and their family, and we will contacting the family to extend support during this difficult time.
The suspect is in police custody, and there is no ongoing threat to the community or our facility.
We are fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation and will continue to do so. The safety and well-being of our residents, staff, and visitors remains our highest priority. As part of our crisis response plan, we are providing support services to employees and residents affected by the incident.
At this time, we are focused on ensuring the continued safety of everyone on our campus. We would like to thank the Sterling Heights Police Department for their quick response and support. We will provide updates as appropriate and ask for patience and privacy as we work through the next steps with our team and local authorities.
