Vaccines are important!

In defense of truth and science: a snapshot that refutes anti-vaccination arguments

At the beginning of the 20th century, in 1901, the British doctor Dr Allan Warner of the Leicester Isolation Hospital took a photograph that became iconic in the history of the struggle for vaccination.

There are two boys in the photo, both 13 years old. They contracted measles on the same day from the same source - probably a classmate. But one difference turned out to be fatal: one was vaccinated as an infancy, and the other was not. The result is obvious: an unvaccinated boy developed a severe form of multiple pustulas, while the vaccinated suffered the infection much easier - just a couple of spots that quickly dried up and covered with crusts.

This photo was published in the Atlas of Clinical Medicine, Surgery, and Pathology and has been used by Dr. Warner in lectures and public demonstrations to demonstrate the benefits of vaccination to a general audience.
