The Story That Started It All: Robert "Bud" Schwab & The Birth of Shepherd Premier Senior Living
Every great mission begins with a story. For Shepherd Premier Senior Living, that story starts with Robert āBudā Schwabāa man whose experience in senior living changed the course of his grandsonās life and ultimately led to the creation of a movement to reshape senior care.
A Heartbreaking Reality Check
Brandon Schwab, founder of Shepherd Premier Senior Living, grew up admiring his grandfather, Budāa hardworking, independent man who had spent his life providing for his family. But like so many seniors, as Bud aged, he needed more help with daily life. The family, wanting the best for him, made the tough decision to move him into a large senior living facility, believing it was the safest option.
It didnāt take long for Brandon to realize something was very wrong.
Bud went from being full of life to a shadow of himself. The once-proud man was suddenly lost in a place that felt more like a hospital ward than a home. The caregivers were stretched thin, and the lack of personalized attention left Bud feeling isolated, forgotten, and completely out of place.
Brandon couldnāt ignore it.
He watched as Budās health declinedānot because of age, but because of the environment. The place that was supposed to care for him was actually failing him.
A Promise to Do Better
That experience changed Brandon forever.
He made a promise: No more seniors should have to spend their final years in cold, impersonal āfacilities.ā They deserved cozy, intimate homes filled with love, dignity, and 4X the care.
In 2014, Brandon took that promise and turned it into action. He walked away from his successful career in real estate and launched Shepherd Premier Senior Livingābuilt on the belief that seniors deserve more than just a place to stay; they deserve a place to THRIVE.

Today, Shepherd Premier Senior Living operates boutique senior homes with 10-20 residents each, where care is personal, respect is the foundation, and home truly feels like home.
Budās story isnāt just a memory. Itās the driving force behind everything we do. His experience became the blueprint for disrupting the senior living industry and proving that there IS a better way.
