Potomac Falls Health & Rehabilitation is thankful for the patience and understanding of our residents and families following a small fire yesterday. We worked diligently to make sure that patients were safe and continued to be cared for appropriately, while also working with the Fire Marshal and Fire Departments to investigate the cause of the fire. At this time, we can report
that the fire has been determined to have been accidental and appears to have been caused by an unspecified electrical event in an HVAC unit, isolated to one patient’s room. While onsite, the Fire Marshal reviewed all systems which are fully operational. We are proud of the immediate response by our staff who swiftly implemented our emergency response procedures, and we are also grateful for the immediate responses by EMS and the local fire department. Clean up efforts are continuing in affected areas which at this time are limited to several rooms at the center.
