# # SmileCon 2025 in DC: Calling VA & MD Dentists to Volunteer!

SmileCon 2025 is coming to Washington, DC, and we’re looking for dedicated dentists from Virginia and Maryland to join our volunteer team as Speaker Hosts and Room Hosts! If you’re passionate about advancing dentistry and want to connect with colleagues from across the region, this is your chance to make an impact and enjoy exclusive perks.

**Why Volunteer?**

- **Priority Access:** By sending your email and phone number now, you’ll be added to our master list and get first access to volunteer codes when they’re released to VA and MD dentists on July 1. This gives you priority for volunteer roles and benefits.
- **Generous Benefits:** Volunteers receive substantial registration discounts—up to $140 off per day for Speaker Hosts, with a maximum of $420 for three days. You’ll also get free parking or Metro tickets, food vouchers for breakfast and lunch on your volunteer days, a SmileCon volunteer T-shirt, and free access to select hands-on or master class sessions[1].
- **Networking & Education:** Volunteering at SmileCon connects you with hundreds of dental professionals, provides leadership experience, and offers opportunities to attend top-tier educational sessions[2][1].
- **Comprehensive Support:** All volunteers will receive a detailed information packet and virtual training about one month before the event, ensuring you’re fully prepared for your role[2][1].

**Volunteer Roles Available**

- **Speaker Host (Dentists Only):** Serve as the main contact for speakers, help facilitate sessions, introduce speakers, and assist with course logistics. This is a key leadership role reserved for ADA member dentists[2].
- **Room Host:** Primarily for students, but dentists interested in supporting session logistics are encouraged to reach out. Room Hosts help manage attendee flow and assist with seating and session support[2].

**How to Get Involved**

- **Contact Me:** Email me your name, email address, and phone number to be added to the master volunteer list. This ensures you’ll be among the first to receive volunteer codes and registration instructions.
- **Register with Your Code:** Once you receive your code on July 1, you’ll be able to register as a volunteer and select your preferred days and role.
- **Confirmation & Training:** After registering, you’ll receive confirmation emails and, closer to the event, a full information packet and access to a virtual training session to prepare you for your assignments[1].

**Important Dates**

- **July 1:** Volunteer codes released to VA & MD dentists on the master list.
- **August 1:** Goal to have all volunteer positions filled.
- **October:** Virtual training and information packets distributed about one month before SmileCon.

Don’t miss this opportunity to represent your state, gain valuable experience, and enjoy exclusive benefits at one of dentistry’s premier events. Contact me today with your details to secure your spot on the priority list for SmileCon 2025 volunteers!

Let’s make SmileCon 2025 unforgettable—together!

---

*All volunteer assignments are coordinated in partnership with the ADA Committee on Local Arrangements. Volunteers must be current ADA members and register for the days they plan to attend and serve. More details will be provided upon confirmation.*

Today we wrapped up the advanced Implantology continuum at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine! Dr. Fine and Dr. Tarnow formulated a fantastic course over the past 6 months with lectures from Europe, South America and the US! Hands on component was decent and the pearls gained will be very useful for our implant dentistry practices.

SOA this weekend is attending the Dental days at the capitol or lobby day as a VDA delegate in Richmond. We were honored by the presence of LT. Gov. Winsome Sears who is an impressive woman and gave a speech. Then I met my local rep and senator and discussed several talking points including our intention to introduce a dental loss ratio similar to what happened in Massachusetts. Both the rep and senator warned us that this is a fight that won’t be easy.

Which brings me to my point. If you’re a dentist in VA and aren’t a member of the VDA; please consider joining or rejoining. The future of dentistry is being written; would you rather have a seat at the table or be on the plate?

We have already achieved a 30% increase in Medicaid reimbursements. We had students from VCU with us who were eloquent and well spoken and made their case to ask for a new campus well.

The Dean of VCU school of dentistry was present as well.

VDA members, delegates, president, board of directors are all made up of dentists like you and me who have the same shared interests of practitioners in this beautiful state. Join the ADA and make your voices heard.

This is one of my favorite options to restore completely edentulous arches. Patients love them as they are easier to clean, half the cost of all on X and they provide a fantastic way to make their existing dentures function better.

Dr. T explains the concept of denture stabilization. Implant overdentures are an excellent solution that forms an in-betwen phase for completely edentulous p...
