Jefferson County General Health District

Jefferson County General Health District Purpose is to help the individual/group achieve a more satisfying life and improve the functioning and quality of life for the residents of Jefferson County.

The Jefferson County Health Department is here to provide services and programs in order to achieve the State purpose. Those services and programs will be based on a number of principles and assumptions including, but not limited to:

*The Department shall carry out programs mandated by the State Legislature and Ohio Department of Health.
*All citizens of the Jefferson County General Health District should be free of any environmental conditions that lower the quality of life. To this end the Board shall adopt and enforce environmental rules and regulations.
*All citizens of the Jefferson County General Health District should be free of communicable diseases. To this end the Board shall create a public health nursing division.
*Citizens of the Jefferson County General Health District should not be barred from receiving medical and dental care due to race, creed, color or socioeconomic levels. To this end the Board may provide services if economically feasible. united states

The JCGHD is pleased to announce that its two Community Health Workers are now fully certified through the Ohio Board of Nursing. As part of this certification, the JCGHD works in conjunction with the Mahoning Valley Pathways Hub. The Pathways HUB connects people to social services and medical resources in Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, and Jefferson Counties. The purpose is to reduce the impact of social determinants of health on health disparities in the region through effective care coordination. The CHWs will partner with county residents to help them in reaching their goals through referrals, education, and support.
