Meet a Hero! Kyrie is in 5th grade and took our kids CPR class the year before last at the age of 9. Recently, he was nearby when someone was choking. Knowing he was trained in First Aid CPR AED, Kyrie was called upon by an adult for help. Acting quickly, Kyrie performed the abdominal thrust maneuver he learned in class, dislodging the object and saving the person. We are so proud of this young man, who acted and saved a life! He not only learned the skills, but he kept calm and was able to confidently perform them in an emergent situation. Kyrie is a hero!

We will be having a follow up post regarding this heroic act in the near future.

Open Letter to the Community:

We have been overwhelmed with pride as so many people have offered to donate to our Easter Event. We greatly appreciate the offers, however, the costs we have incurred to put on this event were planned as a contribution to the community. We have business co-sponsors and prize sponsors that have donated to help us with many of the items such as decorations, snacks, and prizes.

Growing up in the town of Bloomingdale, Ohio, I learned that the holidays were not about making money, but about community and making sure every child had the same opportunity to have fun, regardless of whether they had the money to attend an event.

We want to ensure every child gets the chance to get their photo with the Easter Bunny that will be put down in someone's memory book and that they can each walk away with a treat as well.

When my daughter was young, I could not afford to pay a cost for a photo with the Easter Bunny or Santa, and these memories are precious. Without the amazing people of Bloomingdale, this would not have been possible for me and my family. I am merely paying forward the gifts that have been given to me by Mayor David Gaffney, Darla Pletcher, The Miller family, The Young family, and so many more Bloomingdale residents who have instilled this in me since I was a child myself.

My ask is that if you really do insist on making a donation, that it be made to the Bloomingdale Make A Difference to go toward all of the incredible events the town of Bloomingdale puts on throughout every year to make every holiday the best they can. I am only paying forward what they have created. I hope that you follow their page and watch for every amazing event they hold for the community. Everyone is always so shocked to find out what incredible things such a small town does.

After finding his grandma unconscious, Kayden Anderson administered CPR until the emergency squad arrived. "Kayden is my superstar! He is an incredible young man," exclaimed Michelle Holt, Kayden's grandma.

TNT Pro Tip: Go stand in front of your house and check that you can clearly see your house number next to your door, on your mailbox, etc. If you cannot see it clearly, neither can emergency services in the case of an emergency.
