Welcome to The Pearl Street gym!

No longer will people have to struggle with a wordy name of where to go for growth.

Our vision continues to be focused upon services that address the entire person.

With a new year and our remodel just about finished we are excited to announce our new name and some exciting additions to our facility.

Each of these areas reflect our ongoing priorities

We want to provide a COMMUNITY for our members, support community engagement in positive activities, and to partner with others that have ideas to help the community.

WELLNESS remains at the center of our partnership as we continue to fully integrate physical health and mental health throughout the week for our members.

PERSONAL TRAINING for both minors and adults will expand in 2025 thanks to the involvement of Mackenzie Kratch, Morgan Larson, added to Bill’s ongoing services.

Finally, THREE PILLARS TRAINING, is Steve’s venture into performance work that focuses on the heart, mind and body to help athletes with recovery, restoration, and resiliency.

We are excited to continue offering a unique program that helps our community mentally and physically!

Good mental health takes effort

Every week we discuss our monthly mental health topic with counselor Steve. This month we are covering finishing strong and the different ways that may look for each of us.
Along with these in gym discussions we also have multiple outdoor community events.

This week we had our wild water
cold plunge and private sauna session at
Carving out some personal margin for recovery, connection, and nature. Conversation at the river typically includes our fears, apprehensions, and anxiety. The wave of relief from people after the cold plunge can be felt in the people and the water. The sauna conversations to follow are always fun and allow people to connect and build strength in a way that only community provides.

Enjoy a sample from this week's blog.

"Guarding our hearts and passions for life is important. This is especially true this time of year, just as we discussed last week. Similarly, not forgetting about mental health is a challenge as the year wraps up. Pursuing good mental health helps us to bring together many parts of our lives in satisfying and effective ways. In fact, mental health might be the glue that holds life together; good mental health helps us to persevere through life when it doesn’t always go our way. Therefore, here are some recommendations this week to hold onto so that you are able to finish the year strong with your wellness. The following words will help you to keep your momentum going towards the life that you desire.

Recommendation #1: Set aside one quarter, one half, or an entire day for rest and reflection apart from the busy holidays themselves. The margin you create will help your mental health recover from any stressors.

Recommendation #2: Remember that perseverance and endurance are two markers of success that validate that sometimes just getting through is enough. Not all days are good, but all days can be informative.

Recommendation #3: Control the tone of your communication to yourself and to others about your own attitude and outlook. It will be noticeable to everyone if you are at peace or if you are stuck dealing with tensions."

Keeping our purchases local builds more sustainable connections.

Small-scale, locally owned businesses create communities that are more prosperous, connected, and generally better-off across a wide range of metrics.

When we buy from independent, locally owned businesses, rather than national chains, a significantly greater portion of our money is then cycled back through our local economy — to make purchases from our friends’ businesses, to aid our neighbors in need, and to support our local farms.

strengthening the base of our whole community.

Happy birthday to Counselor Steve!

The guy who came up with this wild idea of bridging mental health training with fitness, and can wrangle Bill back inside after he gets lost in the woods chasing squirrels.

We all appreciate you and are thankful for all of your many random Internet facts.

At the Pearl Street gym our approach to health and fitness is different.

We have the weekly coached workout times under the supervision of a Certified Athletic trainer.

Every week we have guided mental health discussions with licensed counselor Steve.

Along with the in- facility sessions we invite members outside for a variety of activities. We have monthly community walks on the Green circle, cold weather plunges in the river, and private community sauna sessions at Nordic Night sauna.

We approach wellness from a whole person and community perspective.

Enjoy a snippet from this week's discussion on positive significant dates in our lives.

"I think that people move on too fast from positive dates, good times, and successes. I think that they are afraid to “make a big deal of themselves”, are too used to focusing on what is not working, or they have been told that acknowledging successes is prideful or unhealthy. Therefore, this week I want to give four reminders about how to let our positive dates linger in order to strengthen our self views, resiliency, and overall life satisfaction. I hope that you have many positive significant dates in the months ahead that you can truly enjoy them as a result.

Reminder #1: Bad days seem to get the most time and energy in our lives, thus we need to be intentional to notice the good things that we have accomplished.

Reminder #2: A positive self view is built upon being affirmed for the successes and positive growth that has occurred despite the challenges we face.

Reminder #3: Working hard for good things is exhausting without pausing to acknowledge the goals, accomplishments, and achievements that we have met.

Reminder #4: Celebrations make us feel good because every part of our being is involved in reinforcing the positivity of the significant date that is being acknowledged."

Do your best at applying what you can from all of this information and see what happens in your life.

Enjoy a snippet from this week's discussion on difficult significant dates in our lives.

Here are some important points to remember about coping well with significant dates.

Point #1: Focus on a routine in order to keep your mind focused when your heart is overwhelmed by emotions.

Point #2: Try and deal with the facts of a situation rather than let emotions carry you toward assumptions and other thinking errors.

Point #3: Expect coping to be hard or imperfect because you are doing the best you can with what you know given the circumstances.

Point #4: Strive to communicate with people and not isolate from them in order to limit the impact of overwhelming emotions brought on by a significant date.

One of our program pillars is integrating mental health training with our physical workouts.

We accomplish this with weekly discussions led by Counselor Steve. These discussions allow us to dive deeper into our monthly topic.

This month we will address how to deal with significant dates in healthy ways.

The accumulation of this information will be helpful for difficult dates (discussed this week in November), coping with uncertain events as they unfold (week two), celebrating positive dates (week 3), and reframing tough outcomes and legacies (week four).

We begin with ideas that will help for the dates on the calendar that are hard.

Here are some points to think about this week.

Point #1: Sometimes the outcome and meaning of a date will not be known in the moment.

Point #2: The initial experience with a hard date may seem to unfold in slow motion and feel out of control.

Point #3: The impact of self care and coping during the days after an event will have an impact on the outcome.

Point #4: Hard dates seem like they cannot be mitigated for intensity, but intentional efforts can assist in reframing some meanings.

Do your best at applying what you can from all of this information and see what happens in your life.
