Your liver works hard every day. Don’t make it work overtime by adding fuel to the fire. Some of the biggest toxin exposures are hiding in places we use every single day.

If you want to decrease your family’s toxic load start here. Look for these common offenders:

• perfumes, lotions, and dry shampoo (often loaded with synthetic fragrances. If you know me, I hate synthetic fragrance. It’s awful for you and it’s everywhere!)
• plastic cooking utensils that get heated over and over
• air fresheners and plug-ins (they don’t clean the air — they mask it. The first thing I do in any rental we stay at: unplug all the Glade plug-ins 🤢)
• scented candles made with paraffin wax (same as above)
• laundry detergent and dryer sheets
• cleaning wipes and sprays labeled “fresh” or “spring scented”. Even garbage bags are scented these days.
• plastic food containers, especially when heated. We have become a cast iron family! Many of these pans have been handed down literally thru our grandparents. But if you need a new one, go with !

This isn’t about fear, it’s about awareness. Once you know better, you can choose better… one swap at a time. And as you lighten your toxic load, your liver and body will thank you!

✨ Hey Moms! ✨

Between school runs, work deadlines, snack negotiations, and bedtime stories (and more importantly: bedtime snack negotiations!)— when was the last time you took a moment for YOU? We hear it all the time. And it’s true. We need to take care of ourselves!

Here’s the truth: your body carries a LOT — from lifting kiddos to bedtime snuggles and keeping the whole crew going. But that can mean neck tension, back pain, stress buildup, and lower energy 😩 — not exactly the fuel we need to tackle life as a mom! I know you can literally feel what I’m talking about right now!

My chickens are yelling at you: get outside today!

Can you hear them? If not, trust me when I say, you will regret not spending a few minutes outside. Last time we had a nice day you said, almost as a direct quote, “next time. I’m too busy today.” Don’t let that happen again!

A few minutes of being outside is so good for you! Add in a little leisurely walk, and you’ve got yourself a really great habit to build on.

“Sara has done a marvelous job as my chiropractor provider. I’ve been seeing her for old injuries to my lumbar and cervical spine. It can be a vulnerable feeling having your spine manipulated but she is someone you can trust. Not only does she listen and understand the body but she is a really cool person too! I always leave the office refreshed and in much better shape than I was when I arrived — 10/10 recommend.”

We never take words like this lightly.

Healing old injuries takes consistency. It takes trust. It takes someone who listens first and adjusts second. And yes — it can feel vulnerable to have your spine cared for. That’s why creating a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported matters just as much as the adjustment itself.

If you look at this xray above, you might see the skull and the spinal vertebra, but I want you to know the deeper story.

This 40ish gentleman came in because he was having shoulder pain and pain that was radiating down into his left arm. It was preventing him from doing his job properly, he couldn’t work out like he wanted and he was really sick of being in pain. He thought he needed surgery.

Luckily, the day he was supposed to go in, it got cancelled. No joke.

So he came in our doors instead. He gave chiropractic care a shot and guess what….he didn’t need surgery! He needed to work on his posture and his spinal health. Within a few weeks of getting adjusted on a regular basis, he was already pretty close to being back to normal. Now, a few months later, he’s so happy he was able to avoid surgery AND he’s healthier now than he was before all this started.

I could go on and on about the details here, but what I want you to know is that this isn’t an isolated case. I’ve heard this story so many times and it’s rewarding when we are given the opportunity to prove to you that your BODY CAN HEAL! You might need some outside counsel, some adjustments or any number of other nudges in the right direction, but don’t doubt your body.

If there’s one thing two decades has taught me, it’s this: your body is designed to heal when you give it the right support. Small choices, made consistently, create big change over time.

You guys…this is so funny! We had the idea of time traveling back to 2006 when I graduated. Look at this list down below (and look at these photos from throughout the years)! It’s a hoot to think of what a difference 20 years has made. HA! (and if you’re too young to know these references, sorry about your luck. You missed the good old days.) Let’s hop to it:

•2006 called… it wants its flip phone back. ☎️

• We were burning CDs for road trips

• A dozen eggs? About $1

• We were texting on T9 keyboards (if you know, you know 😅)

• Facebook was just for college students

Fast forward 20 years…

Life is different! Not necessarily in a good way or a bad way but one thing is for sure: life moves fast! Plus now we have bigger screens. Schedules are stacked. And as so many of us can attest to — our stress load looks a little different than it did back when we were syncing playlists on iTunes.

But one thing hasn’t changed: the human body still thrives when the nervous system functions the way it was designed to.

Part 2 of 20 years of lessons 🎉

20 years sure has gone fast! 🎓

It was 20 years ago TODAY that I sat with my peers in Davenport, Iowa, walked across the stage, recited the Hippocratic oath and started on this journey of practice in Chiropractic.

It’s been a fun ride. I’ve learned SO much from all of you over the years. I’ve met people who have forever changed my life. I’ve had moments of pure elation (and a few where I shed some tears, too). It all started when I was 10 and my family was hit by a drunk driver. That led me to my first ever adjustment, and I wouldn’t change a thing about how it all came together.

The biggest takeaway from today? It’s that I’m so grateful for being able to serve and foster health and healing in so many of you! Thank you for your trust and willingness to give Chiropractic care a chance. It changed my life. I’m happy that it has for so many others, too.

I’m not sure I’ll be in practice for another 20 years. That sounds daunting so let’s keep cruising forward one day at a time.

Not sure how 20 years flew by so quickly, but here we are! I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic 20 years ago on the 24th! 🎉

That means I’ve had two decades of caring for my communities, learning from each of you, growing through challenges, and constantly evolving. What started as a simple desire to help others experience healing like I did has turned into something much more complex and beautiful. I probably share about the wonders and power of chiropractic care too much. But that’s because I want YOU to see what I see - healing isn’t only possible, it’s the way our body was designed to work.

No child should have to wonder if there will be food at home tonight.

That’s why, once again this year, we’re partnering with Back Packs 4 Hope — a local organization that makes sure kids in our community have food for nights and weekends when school otherwise they might go without.

Every can, box, and bag of food you drop off at our office helps fill a backpack… and that backpack fills a child’s heart with comfort and security.

Our food drive runs through November 13, and our table is already filling up (which makes my heart so happy!) — but we know we can make an even bigger impact together.
