“Ruin” is a strong word, yet it’s thrown around so effortlessly sometimes:

“Make sure you nap them in the crib early on so you don’t ruin your chances for independent sleep.”

“Don’t introduce a pacifier- it’ll confuse your baby and ruin your nursing journey.”

“Don’t start with purées- they will make your baby picky.”

“Don’t allow them to watch any screens- it’ll ruin their attention span.”

We as parents can make educated decisions about things that are best for us and our family, and if that looks a little different than a general recommendation or what someone else is doing, that’s okay 🩷

We focus so much on worrying about not ruining our littles that it can take away from all the goodness that comes with raising them.

Focus on all the nurturing you’re doing - you’re not ruining your little one- you’re doing a great job 🩷

There are sooooo many thing I want to tell parents that are about to start solids with their babies, but these are the biggest points I want to hit home.

As a mom who started with purees with one baby and went full in on BLW with another, I can assure you that really there is no “one right way” to offer foods to your baby. You’re not going to “ruin” them and you’re not going to mess this up (feeding is already a mess lol).
