📣 Sixty-one years ago, Head Start started as an 8-week summer program. Eight weeks. The idea was modest by design, a way to see if reaching kids early could make a difference.

It made a difference.

What grew from those first summers is now one of the longest-running early childhood programs in American history, serving families in cities, rural towns, tribal communities, and migrant farmworker camps alike. Forty million children and counting.

Today we mark 61 years — not just with pride, but with real gratitude for the teachers, family advocates, and parents who do this work every single day.

Behind every successful Head Start program is a team that keeps everything running smoothly, and our Administrative Assistants are at the heart of it all. 💚Today, we celebrate our incredible Administrative Assistants for their dedication, professionalism, and the care they show to our children, families, and staff every single day.

They keep us organized, keep things moving, and honestly, keep us sane. 😊

Alesha and Izzy, we appreciate you both more than we probably say out loud. Thank you for everything you do for our kids, families, and staff every single day. 💙

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month 💙 and today was a powerful reminder of what it means to stand up for children in our community.

🗣 Our Adventure Head Start families and staff joined an awareness event, hosted by the Haskell County Coalition, at the Haskell County Courthouse lawn. Children from our Stigler and McCurtain Head Start Preschool centers participated in a special parade with each step symbolizing that every child deserves a voice, safety, and support. 💓

🥳 We're also incredibly proud to celebrate one of our own Adventure Head Start team members, who was awarded with the Child Advocacy Award. Tiffany Headrick was recognized for her volunteer work with Willow House, a local 24/7 assessment center for children. This honor is given to those who go above and beyond to protect, uplift, and advocate for children, and she represents the very heart of what Head Start is all about.

💙 At Adventure Head Start, we believe strong families and safe environments build strong futures. This month and every month, we stand together to protect our children and give them the bright start they deserve. 💙
