Sans Bois Hospice, LLC provides care for patients of all ages who are terminally ill. Quality end of life care is of utmost importance to our staff, and as members of the Oklahoma Hospice & Palliative Care Association it is our goal to make this available for every member of our community. Hospice makes it possible for patients to spend their last days at home with family and friends. The hospice

staff will provide compassionate, quality care based on the patient and their families needs. Sans Bois Hospice believes in preserving dignity and adding quality to life. Hospice provides 24 hour on call nursing services, pain and symptomatic management, hospice aides for personal care assistance, a medical social worker, pastoral care, bereavement support, volunteer services as well as medical equipment, nutritional supplements, incontinent supplies and prescribed medications related to the terminal diagnosis. Hospice services are covered 100% by Medicare. The hospice team at Sans Bois Hospice are proud to be local individuals from our community that are providing the expert medical care to our neighbors, friends and family when they are facing a terminal illness with a life expectancy of less than six months.

Understanding End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)

Kidney disease doesn’t happen all at once.
It slowly gets worse over time, until the kidneys can no longer do their job.

When someone reaches end-stage kidney disease, the body can’t filter waste and fluid the way it should.

That’s when families often start asking:
“What happens next?”
“Is dialysis the only option?”

Here’s what many people don’t realize.

Hospice may be appropriate when:

▪️ A person chooses to stop dialysis
▪️ OR their body is too weak for dialysis
▪️ The kidneys are working at a very low level
▪️ There is more fatigue, confusion, or decline
▪️ They are spending more time in bed or needing more help
▪️ Their overall health continues to get worse

At this stage, care often shifts from trying to fix the kidneys to focusing on comfort, dignity, and quality of life.

Dialysis can help, but it can also become very hard on the body.

And sometimes, choosing comfort care is not giving up, it’s choosing peace.
