"My name is Carsyn Taylor and I will be starting my second year of medical school at the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine this fall. I recently had the opportunity to participate in a Summer Rural Externship program where I spent two weeks at Stillwater Family Care. The purpose of the externship is to show OSU medical students what the day-to-day life of providers practicing in rural settings looks like. During my time at SFC, I had the privilege of shadowing the compassionate, knowledgeable and dedicated primary care physicians at the clinic. This experience offered a unique glimpse into the challenges and rewards of practicing medicine in a rural setting - as well as the intricacies of owning a private practice. I was able to observe a wide range of patient encounters and see firsthand how deeply providers in rural communities can impact their patients lives. One of the most impactful aspects of this externship was seeing the relationships each physician had built with their patients and how deeply their patients and their families trust them. Iβm very grateful to the physicians and staff at Stillwater Family Care for welcoming me, teaching me, and inspiring me to pursue a career in rural medicine."
We are so excited for your future, Carsyn! π§‘
