๐Ÿšจ Know the Signs: New World Screwworm Awareness ๐Ÿšจ

New World Screwworm (NWS) is a serious, potentially deadly threat to livestock, pets, wildlife and even people. Caused by the larvae of the Cochliomyia hominivorax fly, NWS infestations begin when flies lay eggs in wounds or body openings. The hatched maggots feed on living tissue, causing severe damage and infection.

While NWS is not currently present in the United States, it remains a serious threat and staying alert is key to early detection and prevention.
