The is the most recent update for Julia and Jimmy. Julia had two appointments with the Lupus Specialist at OMRF. Unfortunately, the doctor had nothing more to offer as far as any medical treatments. However, a collaboration between the specialist and her regular Rheumatologist came up with a diagnosis of central Nervous System Lupus, meaning that Lupus is attacking her brain, spinal cord, and nerves. This is what is causing her severe daily migraines and seizures and other symptoms. Unfortunately, the medication that is used for CNS Lupus isn’t an option due to Julia also having Primary Immune Deficiency. This medication would be too dangerous. So, it has been advised that treating her symptoms is the best they can do. She has been referred to a headache specialist but can’t get in until June 2025. She continues with acupuncture, cranial sacral therapy, and of course follows her own Aquarian Nutrition Plan diet. The Mayo clinic or the Cleveland Clinic have been suggested but travel is too expensive, and she is just not well enough to travel at this time.
Jimmy continues to be Julia’s primary care giver while he deals with great pain himself. He is unable to use his left hand after a medical mistake during a MOHS skin cancer surgery. His radial nerve was severely damaged. After several surgeries and procedures and 9 months of occupational therapy not much improvement has been made. He has been diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Reflex Sympathetic Disorder. This condition is chronic and very hard to treat. He is now working with a pain management doctor. He is scheduled for a Ganglion Block Procedure to help reduce pain and increase function. We pray it helps.
On a more positive note, Julia, Jimmy, Ron and I continue our calling to care for community cats in Perkins, many of which have become our indoor pets. Julia and Jimmy both have a gift of earning trust with God’s creatures in need of care and love. Julia is not physically able to help with the trapping, but she snuggles them constantly. I believe that caring for their critters is also extremely healing for Julia and Jimmy.
They simply cannot turn away a hungry or sick animal, so much so that they need some assistance with the cost of cat supplies and care.
We have had great success with OSU Operation Catnip TNR (trap neuter/spay/ release). We have all also used our own funds to spay and neuter with the help of the C.A.A.P. program.
If you would like to help them with their mission to provide food and care, please respond by donating what you are comfortable with. Even a little goes a long way. The funds will be used to purchase dry and wet food, kitty litter, and also cover veterinary care and medication when needed. Many of our rescues are on daily meds and need continuous vet care. One of our female calicos is Feline HIV positive.
Your donations will also help with medical bills and treatments/expenses for both Julia and Jimmy as well.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support.
