Special notes shared above and below by two of Stillwater Medical's Social Workers, Kathryn Hintz and Jessica Frazier, on the eve of our annual Women of Wellness Baby Shower. 🤍 There's a palpable excitement today among the labor-and-delivery wing, knowing that they soon will be able to provide additional support to so many of their patients.

This baby shower is so much bigger than what it may seem. While it's a means to stock the Women's Health Center and OnCue NICU's baby closet with the most vital items new mothers may not otherwise be able to acquire, it's an opportunity to instill hope, loving encouragement, and community during a pivotal time in a woman's life.

"My favorite part of my job is being able to meet with mothers and identify needs that they have. Seeing the smiles and excitement of parents receiving much needed items for [their] baby is unparalleled."

The Foundation, on behalf of our donors, fulfilled two very important needs last month that directly benefit our community in BIG ways:

1. Education and certification for two lymphedema therapists at Total Health

In April, Total Health lost their lymphedema therapist, which meant the loss of a highly utilized service line and vital piece of Total Health's C.O.R.E. program. With only one other lymphedema therapist in Stillwater, the need for this role on a community level is great. Knowing this, two employees expressed interest in becoming certified. Thanks to our donors, we’re pleased to share our commitment to fulfill course and certification costs for these two employees, which will allow Stillwater Medical Center to continue providing this very important service in our community.

2. MRI ACR Phantom for the Cancer Center's MR-Linac System

Additionally, the Foundation fulfilled a request from the Cancer Center to purchase a MRI ACR Phantom. In MR-Linac radiation therapy systems, phantoms are used for various purposes, including quality assurance (QA) testing, device calibration, and research. They are able to simulate human tissue or body parts and allow for the verification of image quality, geometric accuracy, and other performance metrics of the MR-Linac system. In general terms, this device ensures each system is meeting the highest quality standards for imaging and treatment.

Congratulations are in order for Alexis Ghost Taylor, the first recipient of the Grady Lambert Memorial Scholarship, a $2,000 award created to support students pursuing careers in healthcare. Alexis, a graduating senior at Lincoln Academy, will be attending college this fall to study mental health—a field vital to the future of community wellness.

The scholarship was established by friends and family of Grady Lambert, a wonderfully bright young man with a heart of gold and a passion for helping others. At the time of his passing, Grady was in the middle of a cross-country run across the United States—a personal mission to raise awareness and appreciation for the dedication of healthcare professionals. Though his journey was tragically cut short, his spirit of service lives on.

In a deeply meaningful moment, Grady’s parents, Mark and Julie Lambert, presented the scholarship to Alexis alongside Lincoln Academy Principal George Horton. A particularly endearing detail in the photo captured from the presentation: the portrait of Grady hanging directly above Alexis.

The Grady Lambert Memorial Scholarship is not just a financial gift; it is a legacy of compassion, courage, and community service—qualities both Grady and Alexis embody.

The Summer 2025 Youth Volunteer Program at Stillwater Medical is only a few weeks away and applications close and the end of the day – today!

Know someone between the ages of 14-18 who is interested in the medical profession and would like to gain experience supporting patients, families, and staff in a hospital setting? This is fantastic opportunity to learn about the healthcare industry by helping with things like in-hospital deliveries and wayfinding for visitors and patients.

Not interested in pursuing a career in medicine? No big deal! Volunteer opportunities are available in nearly every department, including retail positions at The Gift Shop.

It's that time again! ☀️ Applications for our youth summer volunteer program are now open.

Being a Stillwater Medical volunteer is a great way to learn more about the medical profession and gain experience supporting patients, families, and staff in a hospital setting. Rest assured, volunteers will not be tasked with any medical procedures or advising patients. Instead, they will help with things like in-hospital deliveries and assisting visitors or patients find their way around the hospital.
