Why Ascend? The meaning of ascend is to move upwards, to climb, or rise to overcome something difficult. Family life isn't always easy and sometimes we feel stuck. At times, our vantage point is blocked by the trees and the mountain feels too big to climb. At Ascend Relationship Counseling, we guide you step by step up the mountain, teaching you skills and fostering your confidence along the way. Nothing feels as good as standing on top of the summit with your family and watching the sun rise on a new day.

Clinician Spotlight:
Emma Austin, LMFT-C

Emma graduated from Oklahoma State University with her Masters of Science in Human Development and Family Science with an option in Marriage and Family Therapy. She has been practicing since 2022 and is a candidate for licensure as a marriage and family therapist in Oklahoma. Emma focuses on working with children, adolescents, and their families, especially in the areas of developmental transitions, anxiety/depression, difficulty adjusting to life changes, parent-child conflict, and behavioral challenges. Emma has been trained in Child Centered Play Therapy and utilizes this approach in working with children ages 3-12. Emma also has experience working with clients of all ages seeking therapy for a variety of challenges such as relationship difficulties, communication issues, grief and loss, depression and anxiety, family of origin issues, self-esteem, and trauma. She understands that therapy can be intimidating and incredibly difficult, but also believes that it can also be a fun and deeply rewarding process. Emma generally integrates systemic family therapy, narrative therapy, and Satir and experiential therapy approaches. In her free time, she especially enjoys baking (usually cookies), going on drives, eating ice cream, spending time with family, watching movies/TV, watching her husband play hide-and-go-seek with their dog, and reading a good historical novel.
