Clinical Nurse Practitioner
Join our team of dedicated and compassionate professionals at Stillwater Neurology, a leading outpatient clinic that provides comprehensive care for patients with neurological disorders.
Job Summary:
- As a nurse practitioner, you will work under the supervision of a board-certified neurologist and collaborate with other members of our multidisciplinary team. Educational opportunities are abundant, as our team works together, cohesively, to provide a multidimensional approach to patient care.
- You will provide treatment and follow-up for patients with various neurological conditions, such as stroke, epilepsy, migraine, dementia, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease. The initial diagnosis and treatment plans will largely be provided by our neurologist.
- You will also perform physical and neurological examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications and therapies, educate patients and families, and coordinate referrals and transitions of care.
Responsibilities:
- Manage patients with neurological disorders in accordance with evidence-based guidelines and protocols, while working under the supervision of a board-certified neurologist.
- Perform comprehensive and focused physical and neurological examinations, including cranial nerve, motor, sensory, reflex, and coordination tests. Previous experience is not required, as we will provide education regarding neurologic physical exam skills and treatment protocols as necessary and appropriate.
- Order diagnostic tests, such as bloodwork, imaging, electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), and lumbar puncture.
- Prescribe and monitor medications and therapies, such as anticonvulsants, anticoagulants, immunomodulators, and perform therapeutic medical botulinum toxin injections.
- Educate patients and families about their condition, treatment plan, prognosis, and self-management strategies.
- Coordinate referrals and transitions of care with other specialists, primary care providers, home health agencies, and community resources.
- Document and communicate patient information and care plan in the electronic health record system.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid license as a registered nurse and nurse practitioner in the state of Oklahoma.
- Familiarity with ICD-10 coding
- Ability to perform basic life support (BLS); if not BLS certified, we will provide education and classes for certification
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and other computer applications.
- Commitment to providing patient-centered, compassionate, and ethical care.
