Boundaries are not walls. They are guidelines for sustainability. Research shows that poor boundaries contribute to burnout, especially in caregiving and leadership roles. (Maslach & Lester, 2016).
Healthy boundaries may sound like:
“ that doesn’t work for me “
“ I need time to think “
“ i’m not available for that “
when boundaries are clear, anxiety decreases, and relationships feel steadier if boundary setting feels uncomfortable therapy can help you practice it safely.
