Avoid frozen rivers and ponds to keep from falling through thin ice. Also, avoid playing near roads because it’s more difficult to stop a vehicle on the snow and ice.

It is important to keep safety in mind when cold weather rolls in. When sledding, be sure to find an area free of obstacles and always go feet first. Wear rubber soled shoes and hold onto railing if available to avoid falling. Take shorter steps and avoid walking with long strides on snow and ice!
