It's no secret we have a special interest in working on goats. Because of that we have some unique opportunities.
Scrapies is a serious disease of sheep and goats. Oklahoma works hard to keep this dreaded disease out of the flocks and herds in our states. But it takes the help of lots of farmers and veterinarians.
What I need from you to help our state reach the testing numbers to stay current for scrapies survellience is to notify our hospital if you have a sheep or goat that has died or is going to die. We can take samples from these animals, at no cost to you, to verify there was not scrapies affecting this animal. This helps your farm with knowing you are not dealing with scrapies and helps the state to continue a valued survellience program.
