Trump Welcomes Rodeo Champions to the White House After 42-Year Hiatus
Today, March 13, 2026, President Donald Trump welcomed the 2025 PRCA and WPRA World Champions to the White House for a presidential reception honoring their grit, skill, and dedication to America's classic sport.
This marks the first such recognition for rodeo's top athletes since President Ronald Reagan's era in 1983, when champions performed and were celebrated in a historic command performance.
Dressed in sharp Western wear, cowboy hats, and boots, the champions posed proudly in front of the iconic residence with the American flag flying high— a powerful symbol of heartland values finally getting their due in the nation's capital.
Rodeo fans across the country cheered the moment, seeing it as long-overdue respect for the hard-working men and women who embody courage, tradition, and the American spirit.

Our story began in 2001 when we began building our lives together. Today by the grace of God and all His blessings; we have a beautiful life, farm and home.
Lonnie raises and trains Ranch Horses with humane and compassionate techniques. Lonnie gets into their heads and not their hides. Lonnie is also a PRCA NFR Reserve World Champion Bull Rider(1983), he went to the World in 1981, 1983, 1984 and 1985 and won Rodeos all over the USA including Houston, El Paso the George Paul Memorial and many others. Another passion of Lonnie's (besides Madonna) Is his leather (saddle) shop; where he cleans, repairs and builds tack, saddles and most anything leather. Lonnie also ranch works for the local ranchers, he is a master at all aspects of ranch work since he was raised on a 5000 acre ranch on the Colorado/Nebraska boarder. Lonnie's father taught him the old ways of ranching and most important that a hand shake is your word and honesty and hard work are the riches to this trade.
Madonna, retired from the University of Texas Medical Branch at the Beaumont State Prison Complex where she was responsible for Radiological services for 3 prison units; Gist, Leblanc and Stiles. Madonna graduated from Lamar University in 1982 with an Associates Degree in Radiology. Madonna worked for the State of Texas; TDCJ/UTMB for 30 years, she retired after 30 years of state service. Madonna was raised on a Dairy Farm and she and Lonnie lived on part of that old farm land until 2019; when they decided to move north to the Texas Panhandle; where they are developing a horse property. Madonna loves the farm life (and Lonnie) and she and Lonnie support each other with their enduring love, and with a strong commitment to each other and their love of God. Together they have faced of many “storms” but they remain solid and even more committed to each other and their life together.
That’s our story and we’re sticking to it.
I will follow the upward road today; I will keep my face to the light. I will think high thoughts as I go my way; I will do what I know is right. I will look for the flowers by the side of the road; I will laugh and love and be strong. I will try to lighten another’s load this day as I fare along. — Mary S. Edgar
