On October 10, VMRC hosted its annual Cultural and Disability Resource Fair at our Stockton Campus, and it was an incredible day! The event was filled with vibrant cultural performances, delicious food, and a strong sense of community spirit.
We welcomed over 1,100 individuals with disabilities and their families from across our five counties, along with more than 85 enthusiastic vendors and community-based organizations that provided valuable resources, information, and giveaways. Our microbusiness fair showcased beautiful artwork and creative crafts for everyone to enjoy.
This year's event truly highlighted what makes VMRC special. I am grateful to all the VMRC staff who worked tirelessly over the past several months to prepare for this occasion. We focused on ensuring an inclusive and accessible environment for all attendees, while also advancing equity by celebrating the rich diversity of the cultures we serve. Mahalo to everyone who attended and contributed to bringing our mission to life—empowering people with developmental disabilities and their families through access to services, support, and advocacy.

Valley Mountain Regional Center was honored to attend the 58th Annual California Native American Day on September 26, 2025, at the Capitol in Sacramento, hosted by the California Tribal Chairpersons’ Association. This day honors and recognizes the First People of the land now known as California, their rich history, traditions, and ongoing contributions.
Leinani Walter and Mayra Ochoa enjoyed connecting with Season and James Goodpasture of Acorns to Oak Trees, Victor Duron, Chief Deputy Director of California Department of Rehabilitation, and Shanola Harvey, Sandra Coss, Kate Thao, Lilliana Ramos, and Jordan Martinson of California Department of Developmental Services. It is a wonderful event to connect with community partners and celebrate native dancers, singers, and artwork from tribes from around California. VMRC was honored to attend this day of celebration, reflection, and culture.
