Let California Kids Hear Act, SB 635 (Menjivar/ Portantino), moves to the Assembly Appropriations Committee THIS Wednesday, August 23, and again on Friday, September 1st. Yes, it has to clear this Committee TWICE.

We are asking for a huge PUSH from ALL of you right now. There are hundreds of bills being considered in the next few weeks, and we need to stand out amongst all of them. We need to make sure our voices are being heard.

The Committee Chair is Assemblymember Chris Holden (Pasadena/Los Angeles). Holden will determine whether the bill continues to advance to the Governor’s desk for the September 14 deadline.

There will be no opportunity for testimony and only in-person public comment. Therefore, organizations with lobbyists in Sacramento who can attend, letters of support, and calls will be critical to stand out.

We are asking you to PLEASE CALL Chair Chris Holden today at (916) 319-2041.

Ask for his renewed support for this health equity issue that starts at birth and has permanent preventable developmental consequences. Tell him kids need access to hear and connect with their world to thrive in California. Tell his staff you are counting on him for these children.

You can help change California's history for children by calling Assembly Appropriations Chair Chris Holden and urging him to pass SB 635 out of his Committee on Wednesday.

This is an all out sprint to the Governor’s desk in a very short amount of time. We need everyone to lean in to clear the next two huge hurdles to Let California Kids Hear.
