📣Upcoming icd 10 changes in 2026:

The 2026 ICD-10 updates, effective October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026, include significant changes announced by CMS. These changes impact both ICD-10-CM (diagnoses) and ICD-10-PCS (procedures) codes:

• 614 total new codes, including 487 new billable ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes.
• 156 new ICD-10-PCS procedure codes.
• 28 diagnosis codes deleted and 12 invalidated.
• 38 revised diagnosis codes and 88 term modifications.
• 642 billability changes (codes changing status to parent, more granular categories, etc.).
• One new section added and several new subcategories, especially for non-pressure ulcers and eyecare.
• Guideline revisions including changes in wording and coding rules for multiple site coding and other conventions.
• Expansions for specific body sites and severity levels to allow more precise documentation.
• New and updated procedure codes in Medical & Surgical sections (including new tables for body parts and devices).

All changes apply to patient encounters and discharges from October 1, 2025, onward. Billers and coders should update their references and ensure claims after this date use the 2026 codes. The CMS and NCHS have released detailed code files, conversion tables, and guidelines for review.
No major structural changes to official ICD-10-PCS coding guidelines were made, but there are many new examples and minor technical updates reflecting new technologies and procedures. The 2026 update is also mirrored internationally, such as Germany launching its ICD-10-GM update cycle.

Welcome to the CMS CLIA Communications Update!
Important information about electronic CLIA certificates
Last year, CMS started sending electronic CLIA certificates and fee coupons to laboratories that opted to get email notifications when they filled out their CLIA application (Form CMS-116). Starting August 27, 2024, laboratories that opted to get email notifications will no longer get paper certificates and fee coupons.
Does your laboratory want to go paperless?
A laboratory must provide written notification to the appropriate State Agency by email or fill out the CMS-116 application form to opt in to get email notifications, which means the laboratory will get electronic CLIA certificates and fee coupons. Participating laboratories can expect to get their CLIA certificates and fee coupons approximately 7-10 days quicker than paper copies.
