I’ve made some changes to the Essential Coaching Skills Webinar Series: Advanced Skills for Real Coaching Problems

We’ll be focused on Sleight of Mouth over all three days.

March 24 and 25 will focus on Sleight of Mouth skills and how they give you the confidence that you can disarm any limiting belief.

March 26 will be about the interplay of how Sleight of Mouth improves your NLP and hypnosis. And how NLP and hypnosis can be the perfect tools when Sleight of Mouth alone is not enough.

We start at noon each day.

If you’ve studied Sleight of Mouth you already know,

the right Sleight of Mouth pattern can shift a person in an instant…

…but you won’t know which pattern(s) will work until after you use it.

And that’s the challenge for coaches who don’t keep ALL the patterns within easy reach.

Once you start to get predictable, your client's defenses go up.

You’re ready for a right hook, right hook, upper cut, and they’ve blocked before your shoulder moves.

I’ve seen that happen to good coaches all the time.

One sign it’s happening to you??

The client shakes their head no and doesn’t even want to answer your question because they feel like they’d be walking into a trap.

Or you find yourself using the same handful of patterns.

So, new or returning, set some time aside for the free training and brush up on your Sleight of Mouth next week.

A quick reminder:

The referral contest is still running for this training.

For every person you invite who registers, your name is entered into a drawing.

Five winners will receive a pack of my Sleight of Mouth Practice Cards, designed to help you hone your skills on your own. (only available in the US. Sorry. Unless you want to pay the postage)

And if someone you refer signs up for the membership, I am happy to provide you with an affiliate commission.

You know the drill, just forward me proof, and you’ll get an entry for every person you refer. Send your email to doug@ericksonian.com

We ask ourselves many questions when in a dilema, and the nature of the questions determines the nature of the answers we get. So we need to put ourselves in a position to ask better questions.

Your brain is a question-answering device.

Ask it a bad question and it will give you a bad answer.

For example:
“Why does this always happen to me?”

Your brain immediately goes to work proving it.

It will find evidence.
Old memories.
Past disappointments.

Suddenly the problem feels bigger than it actually is.

But change the question and something interesting happens.

Ask:
“What’s good about this situation?”

Now your brain searches for possibility.

Ask:
“What am I willing to do to make this better?”

Now it searches for action.

Ask:
“How can I enjoy the process?”

Now it searches for creativity.

The quality of your life often comes down to the quality of the questions you ask.

It’s one of the most practical coaching tools I know.

Many coaches believe their job is to give insight.

Insight helps.

But insight alone rarely changes behavior.

Stories work differently.

Stories bypass resistance.

They allow people to experience something internally instead of arguing with it.

This is one of the reasons Milton Erickson used metaphor so extensively in his work.

A good story doesn’t tell someone what to think.

It allows them to discover something for themselves.

That skill can be learned.

Inside the Essential Coaching Skills membership we’re running a six-week class on Ericksonian storytelling.

If you're a coach who wants to deepen this craft, get in.
