R. Larry Boggs
Russell Larry Boggs, 72 of Stoneboro, formerly of Jackson Center and Clay, West Virginia, passed away on November 24, 2025 at Avalon Springs โ Mercer. Larry was affectionately known by his family as either โUncle Pouchโ or โBuddyโ. He was born in Clay, West Virginia on February 17, 1953, to the late Russell and Ora Greathouse Boggs.
Larry graduated from Clay High School in West Virginia and eventually made his way to Jackson Center, PA where he met his beloved wife, Evelyn โDutchโ Boitnott, the two married on June 15, 1974, she survives at home. The couple were blessed with their son, Larry Don Boggs, a few years later. Larry worked for many years as an RSA at Polk Center until his retirement.
Larry was a tough West Virginia Boy and loved telling stories about his years in the holler. He loved spending time outdoors and going hunting when he was able. He loved seeing friends and family and he never knew a stranger, being able to strike up an extended conversation with anyone he met. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed any kind of races, traveling south each year to see family and watch racing. He was very close with many family members and was a role model for many nieces and nephews. In recent years he came to fulfill the role of a bonus grandpa for Madilyn and Reagan Corraini, and Conrad and Callahan Rose.
In addition to his wife, Evelyn, Larry is survived by his son, Larry Don Boggs and wife Kristen of Portersville, their daughters: Madilyn and Reagan, numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, his little buddies: Conrad and Callahan Rose, as well as numerous dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers: Danny and Benny Boggs, and sisters: Linda Cunningham, Allie Eagle, and Patricia Bourne-Meglich.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to ROSE AND BLACK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where visitation will be from 12 pm to 2 pm on Saturday, November 29. A funeral service will follow visitation at 2 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Spangler, officiating.
Interment will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Jackson Center.
