Big win at the clinic this week 💙✂️

One of our sweet kiddos came in for a haircut—something that has historically been very difficult and often ends before it can be completed.

This time? We finished it 🙌

We met him where he was and used all the tools in our toolbox:
✨ sensory breaks on the swing
✨ favorite toys for engagement
✨ bubbles for distraction and regulation
✨ flexible positioning (yes—even laying on the floor!)
✨ and we even took things outside to finish strong

Was it perfect? No. There were moments of yelling and frustration—and that’s okay. What matters is progress. What matters is building trust.

Each positive experience lays the foundation for the next one, and we know it will keep getting better 💪

So proud of this kiddo and the hard work he put in today. This is what it’s all about ❤️ Big shout out to our ever patient stylist Megan Roy! You’re amazing!!

🗣️Limit Background Noise for Better Speech Learning!

Did you know that too much background noise can make it harder for kids to focus on learning speech sounds? 🧠👂

✅ Tips for a quieter learning environment:

-Turn off TVs, tablets, or other noisy devices during practice
-Find a calm, well-lit space for speech exercises
-Soft surfaces like rugs or curtains can help absorb sound

A quieter environment helps your child hear and produce sounds more accurately, boosting confidence and progress! 🌟

A haircut.

For many families, it’s a quick errand squeezed in between school and dinner.

For some of our kiddos, it can feel terrifying.

The sound of clippers can feel like an alarm going off inside their body.

The sensation of tiny hairs falling on their skin can feel unbearable.

The pressure to “just sit still” can feel impossible.

And for caregivers, it can feel exhausting — the worry, the stares, the fear of judgment, the memories of past attempts that didn’t go well.

So we changed the environment instead of changing the child.

We invite an incredible stylist into our clinic — a place that is familiar, safe, and supportive. While hair is being cut, our therapy team surrounds the child with regulation tools that work for them — movement breaks, music, fidgets, visual supports, or simply time.

There’s no rush.
No shaming.
No forcing.
No expectations of perfection.

Just patience.
Just compassion.
Just meeting a child exactly where they are.

Sometimes the biggest victories don’t look dramatic.

Sometimes they look like a few snips of hair… and a child who felt safe while it happened.

And that matters more than anything. 💙🧡💚❤️

A big thank you to our stylist, Megan Roy! We all appreciate you so much!!

🌱 Milestone Reminder 👶

Every child develops at their own pace 💛

Rolling, crawling, walking, and jumping don’t happen on a strict schedule, and that’s okay 😊
-
What matters most is steady progress, not hitting a specific age “on time.”

If a skill is taking longer, pediatric physical therapy can help support your child’s strength 💪, coordination 🤸, and confidence 🌟

Questions are always welcome—and early support can make a big difference 💙

🧦 Quick OT Tip for Kids! 🧦

Struggling with getting dressed or putting on socks?
✨ Use “step-by-step visuals”!

Create a simple picture chart showing each step—like pull up socks → adjust heel → smooth out wrinkles. Let your child follow the chart independently.

Why it helps:
✔ Builds independence
✔ Strengthens sequencing skills
✔ Reduces frustration for both kids and parents

Small visual cues can make a BIG difference in helping kids master daily routines! 💛
