Every week I try and call my reps about something that matters to me.

This week I called my federal legislators about resisting Trump's ideological oppression and censorship.

Specifically, I asked them to push back against the Trump administration's attacks on government programs that don't align with his "anti-DEI" ideology. Forcing this worldview on others is a form of political censorship and oppression, and we all must fiercely condemn it - especially our elected representatives.

I also asked that they work to:
💲 protect funding for congressionally approved programs from politically motivated suppression
🏛 publicly defend Smithsonian Institution museum exhibits from both erasure and manipulation
👨🏻‍🏫 push back against the Trump administration's promotion of PragerU's extremist "educational content"
🎓 push back against the administration's intrusion into college admissions data

This is meant to be the land of the free. Let's work to keep it that way.

Every week I try and call my reps about something that matters to me.

This week I called about several things,.

I called my governor, asking him to stand strong in defending the integrity of our elections against the ongoing executive overreach by the Trump administration. Just a few days ago, Trump posted online (of course) that he would sign an executive order banning all mail-in voting nation wide. But you see, states have constitutional authority over elections, not the federal government. Trump's continual attempts to interfere with our state's sensitive voter data and mechanisms are a threat to both our rights as voters as well as democracy.

I called my federal legislators about supporting the joint house resolution to terminate Trump's emergency order and federal occupation of D.C. Clearly this is an authoritarian power grab, and it's not only infringing on D.C.'s right of self-governance, but also putting at risk the safety of every resident, visitor, and person working in the region. I also asked that they support H.R 51/S.51, which if passed would make the District of Columbia the 51st state in the union.

This week I called about several things, one of which being asking my federal legislators to support an investigation into the potential corruption between Trump and media companies, specifically the Paramount merger deal.

Trump's legal threats against news sources threaten our freedom of the press, obviously. But they also pave the way for just... open bribery.

It's not "official official" until the SOTS says so, but that takes time.
But I've got all the signatures and then some from folks in our town to appear on the ballot this November as a Working Families Party candidate for Board of Education here in Stonington!
