Hope everyone survived the crazy snow this weekend. Wow! Just look at the entrance to the studio . . .

Two announcements based on that . . .

1. We'll be closed (for yet another day) on Wednesday, February 25. Unfortunately, schools are closed again.

2. Please arrive early and prepare to park and walk from the main entrance of the Mill. There is almost no parking back here. Also, as there's no much plowing, sidewalks aren't great, so I'd recommend walking through the Mill. We'll be sure to keep an eye on the back door before classes start. (Just remember to carry your shoes through the studio or leave them at the back door).

Thank you for your understanding, patience, and flexibility. What a winter it's been!

Meet our new instructors!

Alisha might have started her maternity leave, but we haven’t slowed down here at the studio. We recently welcomed two new instructors to help us continue providing the best possible service to all our amazing clients. We have a third, full-time and fully certified instructor coming in April!

JOSH is our new personal trainer and strength/conditioning coach. A longtime fitness professional and an avid bodybuilder himself, Josh offers small group, semi-private, and private strength/weights training and conditioning.
After one week in the studio, he already has rave reviews and repeat fans!

JEN is a fully certified Pilates instructor who has taught at various studios throughout Rhode Island and Connecticut since 2008. She's comprehensively certified and experienced on all equipment and is excited to join a team dedicated to individual client attention.
Jen especially loves to offer challenging and fast-paced workouts but will always tailor her sessions to the clients in her group. She’ll be offering Monday evening groups as well as Tuesday afternoon private sessions.
She comes to us as a referral from a current client, who thought her style would be a good fit for our studio!

TAYLOR is a fully certified classically trained Pilates instructor coming all the way from California to teach at our beautiful seaside studio. She will be joining us in April to offer full-time coverage.

Keep an eye on the forecast!

We're monitoring the weather (and school closings). We will close the studio if we:

1. Feel roads will be unsafe
2. Think there will be no parking and/or plowing at the studio
3. Are notified of school closings

As always, if YOU feel unsafe driving, aren't able to shovel or plow, or find yourself without child care, just let us know and we will cancel you without charge!

Elyse is 😍 crushing 🤩 one of many variations of pushups on the Pilates Wunda Chair.

This variation is excellent for building shoulder & scapular stability. It is especially good if you have a notable imbalance between left and right sides. Longterm results: this type of training will help engage your big muscles instead of predominantly relying your support structure (joints & tendons etc.). We all know how Alisha feels about sagging spines and winging scaps during pushups 🙃

Geordan is making this look easy!

There are a lot of little things she has been working on that come together in this exercise:
- Maintaining rib connection
- Increasing spine articulation & control through neutral, flexion & extension
- Developing an even C-Curve with improved lumbar flexion
- Chest & thoracic opener in extension
- Consistency with shoulder organization & congruency
- Head alignment in relationship to spine
- Utilizing glutes & lower abdominals more than flexibility
- Coordination of movement & breath

What is means: She's not just flailing about but intentionally moving her limbs and spine in a thoughtful way that is initiated from her core. This translates not only to improving her Pilates practice, but also her posture & everyday movement mechanics outside of the studio.

Looking to deepen your connection to your body and understanding of Pilates: sign up for our limited class offerings on our website or reach out to the studio to register for the new client introductory series (required before joining small group sessions). Please note that classes and small group sessions are different services, and our small group session schedules are not available for drop ins so they are not posted online.
