We are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of surgical expertise and placing the welfare of patients above all else, to serving as first-tier educators for students and residents, and to advancing scientific knowledge through research to improve patient care and population health. Together, our specialized surgical services contribute to the unique range and top quality of healthcare pr

Congrats to Stony Brook Surgery resident, Ahmad Aljobeh, MD, on receiving the 2026 Jason Foster Aortic Award for best paper at the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery Annual Meeting. Surgery Chairman Apostolos Tassiopoulos was Dr. Aljobeh's advisor/supervisor on this project.

Dr. Aljobeh's paper examined limitations of abdominal aortic aneurysm screening guidelines and highlighted the need for more effective, risk-based screening strategies to address gaps in existing approaches.
