As a DNP student and President of the School of Nursing Alumni Board, Diana Filipek-Oberg is proud to give back to the university that shaped her journey.

Here are some highlights from our interview with her...

Class Year:
2012 (DNP expected 2027)

Hometown:
Sewell, New Jersey

Favorite UConn Memory:
Watching both Men’s and Women’s Basketball win NCAA championships during her time at UConn. 🏀 Diana also loved campus in the fall!

Favorite Dairy Bar Order:
Husky Tracks in a cup! 🍦

💙 Diana's UConn Story:
Diana was raised a UConn Husky—her father attended UConn, and she loved everything about it from a young age. She began her journey at UConn in Fall 2008 as a recruited rower, balancing the demands of being a Division I athlete and a nursing student. With support from her advisors in both Nursing and Athletics, she thrived academically and athletically, forming lifelong friendships along the way.

She also met her husband at UConn, and now enjoys bringing their two daughters to visit Storrs often.

🌟 What UConn Nursing Made Possible:
UConn Nursing laid a strong foundation for Diana’s career. The program equipped her with the skills and leadership qualities needed to succeed in nursing. She has applied the knowledge and connections gained at UConn to direct patient care, continued education, and national trauma nursing presentations.
