The countdown to Syttende Mai is on and the excitement is building here at Stoughton Eye Care & Eyewear! 🇳🇴

We had a wonderful time welcoming this year’s Syttende Mai King and Queen as we get ready to celebrate one of the most special weekends in our community. Stoughton’s Norwegian heritage, traditions, music, food, and hometown spirit make this festival such an incredible event each year.

Dr. Lindell had the honor of presenting at the Wisconsin Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired's (WAER) Collaborative Vision Conference this year.

He shared low vision management tools for individuals with peripheral vision loss. Great to connect with teachers making a difference in the lives of students with vision loss! 🙌

🚧 Heads up for those traveling to come see us over the next few week🚧

It is spring, so that means construction season; currently in Stoughton along HWY 51 there is a multi-phase reconstruction project happening with lane closures, detours, and changing traffic patterns along the corridor.

We know it can be frustrating—but don’t let construction stop you from getting the eye care you need 👓

✅ We are OPEN and here for you!
✅ Access to local businesses is being maintained during construction
✅ A few extra minutes of travel time may be needed

Helpful tips to get here:
• Follow posted detour routes
• Allow a little extra time before your appointment
• If you’re unsure about the best route, give us a call—we’re happy to help guide you!

"Smoking is significantly associated with an increased risk of multiple vision-threatening ocular diseases."

A recent large-scale study of over 12 million patients found that smoking significantly increases the risk of EVERY major sight-threatening eye disease! 🔎

• Smokers had higher risk across ALL major eye conditions studied
• Up to 2–2.6x higher risk of certain cataracts and inflammatory eye disease
• Nearly 2x higher risk of macular degeneration (AMD)
• Increased risk of glaucoma, retinal vascular occlusions, and optic nerve damage
• Even diabetic eye disease risk was elevated

Dr. Andrew Lindell has had another incredible year providing low vision care and support to school-aged students across the state. In partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Instruction and the
Wisconsin Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired , we’ve been able to connect with families, teachers, and students---offering resources, guidance, and tools to help children with low vision thrive both in school and in everyday life. Every year he is thankful to get to work with the wonderful team seen in the photo included in this post.

Outreach and collaboration like this allow us to extend care beyond the clinic walls, making a meaningful difference in the lives of students and their communities.
